Read from the bottom up.
The greatest creations, the most legendary relationships, the most treasured and heralded experiences, innovations, works of art, and lives have all come from people who were willing to live and act in the face of uncertainty long enough for greatness to emerge.⠀
Is there anything better than a DIY pasta bar?! We are huge advocates for the build-your-own meals format. Not only do they give each member of the family an opportunity to pick and choose what they’d like, it also makes life a lot easier because you can prep tons of ingredients in advance and have them all at the ready for those busy weeknights.
Who doesn’t love a social media pep talk?! #goyou #entrepreneurlife #peprally #keepgoing #possibility #wellnessintelligence #thepowerofyet #pride #inspo #forceforgood
Continually. Persistently. Relentlessly.
We can all use a little perspective. Especially today. And tomorrow. And the next day. As an entrepreneur looking at other businesses, it’s easy to see what flourishes above ground, but it’s hard to see what’s under the surface. No matter how easy someone else makes it look, or how successful someone may appear to be, chances are, they are facing the same kind of challenges as you are, or once did.
You aren’t successful because of luck ... you are successful because of what you do ... repeatedly and consistently. .
Be curious. Dig deeper. Connect the dots.
Perspective is everything.

There are hundreds of books, dozens of podcasts, and millions of articles that can benefit you and your business. In addition to The Borden Workbook (our small business workbook!) these books are a great start, whether you are a solopreneur or part of a big team.

If You Don’t Have Big Breasts, Put Pink Ribbons In Your Hair by Barbara Corcoran Using the unconventional lessons learned from her mom, Barbara Corcoran built a tiny company into a $4 billion business. Her hilarious stories and her mom’s pithy advice inspire greatness. This book will make you feel better about yourself, and teach you to look at obstacles in a whole different way.

Leap First: Creating Work That Matters by Seth Godin Seth Godin is the author of 17 books that have been bestsellers around the world and have been translated into more than 35 languages. He writes about the post-industrial revolution, the way ideas spread, marketing, quitting, leadership and most of all, changing everything. In Leap First, Godin says “It always feels too soon to leap. But you have to. Because that’s the moment between you and remarkable. We hope this helps you return to that edge. And then, to leap.” And if you aren’t already subscribed to his blog, we highly suggest you go do that (we are fans of practically anything he writes!)

The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell This book explores the magical moment when an idea reaches its “tipping point” and begins to spread like wildfire. It’s a fun and fascinating peak into the ideas, trends, and behaviours that go viral.

Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck Ever wonder what difference your mindset can make? Carol Dweck shows us how success is influenced by how we think about our goals. In school, work, sports, and everything else, having a growth mindset – believing we can improve – may be the key to success.

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown Do less, but better, and with more focus. Greg McKeown describes The Way of the Essentialist, which means learning how to focus our time on only the right things – the things that are essential – and eliminating everything else.

The Borden Workbook by Lisa Borden We have created The Borden Workbook to support you as you launch, grow, and nurture your business, alongside consultation, or as a standalone guide. The Borden Workbook is part business book, part self-help book that provides you with the tactical and practical advice, efficiencies, formulas and perspective you need. Organize and succeed as an entrepreneur at your own pace, within your own budget – with competence and confidence.
